CIPD Learner Stories: Samantha Purdy

Samantha had the working experience but was keen to solidify her knowledge with an 100% online CIPD accredited qualification.

I have worked within organisational development for over 10 years now. I started as a business admin apprentice back in 2012, becoming an advisor soon after and eventually working my way up through various organisations to ultimately becoming an organisational development manager.

Whilst I have a great deal of experience, working within organisational development has meant that I understand the value of continuous professional development, which meant I was keen to solidify my knowledge and skills with a professional qualification. 

This resulted in me embarking on my learning journey with DPG, undertaking the CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic Learning & Development.

I was attracted to DPG as a provider due to the fact that learning is on your own terms. As someone who was also working full time, in a demanding role, being able to learn flexibly suited me both personally and professionally.

I am enrolled on the online course which I find helpful as I can dip in to it at any time and break the learning down into small chunks.

Undertaking the qualification has provided me with skills to utilise within my working life such as understanding various models that could support project work i.e. PESTLE to analyse the different impacts of external and internal factors on projects.

It has also supported my development as a manager, taking on board the different ways that I can manage and support my team, helping them to achieve their potential.

Undertaking the qualification has also enabled me to have better conversations with customers who are also thinking about studying alongside their full-time role, as I can provide real life examples of what it's like to manage different priorities.

I would recommend DPG to any other learners who are interested in gaining a qualification. The tutors are accessible and supportive, learning is flexible and the resources are excellent. 

If I had to describe my experience with online learning so far, I would say: flexible, challenging and rewarding!
