I currently work in the insurance industry as a Learning and Development Executive. My role involves supporting the professional growth of employees, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills needed to succeed.
I’ve always been passionate about developing others, which led me to pursue the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in Organisational Learning and Development. I’ve really enjoyed my first module and look forward to continuing my journey in this field.
I enrolled in the CIPD qualification with DPG to deepen my understanding of L&D strategies, learning theories, and how to create impactful learning initiatives.
Before enrolling, I wanted to strengthen my strategic thinking and credibility in the L&D space. While I had hands-on experience, I knew that gaining a recognised qualification would open up new opportunities and help me become a more effective L&D professional. So far, the course has given me valuable insights and practical tools that I’ve already started applying in my role.
Balancing work, study, and personal life can be challenging, but having a structured study plan and setting aside dedicated time each week has helped me stay on track.
Studying with DPG has boosted my confidence and helped me develop a more strategic approach to learning and development. I’ve already applied my learning to real-life projects, such as improving onboarding programmes and implementing more engaging training methods within my organisation.
One specific example is how I’ve used learning needs analysis techniques from the course to better align our training initiatives with business goals. This has resulted in more targeted and effective development programmes for employees.
One key lesson I’ve learned is that continuous learning is essential for staying ahead in L&D. The field is constantly evolving, and this course has reinforced the importance of staying adaptable and open to new ideas.
For those considering enrolling, my advice would be to stay organised, actively engage with the learning materials, and apply what you learn as you go—this really helps reinforce your understanding and makes the experience more rewarding.
After completing my course, I hope to take on more strategic L&D responsibilities, contribute to shaping the learning culture within my organisation, and possibly progress into a leadership role in L&D.
Overall, the journey so far has been incredibly valuable, and I’m looking forward to completing the qualification and applying even more of what I’ve learned in my career.
