Aleiah Johnson chose to study CIPD Level 5 with DPG to broaden her HR knowledge and bring a stronger people-focused lens to her work in CSR and inclusion.
I currently work as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Inclusion Coordinator. I have held this role for three years, leading initiatives that enhance employees’ workplace experience, organisational culture, and sense of inclusion.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in International Business, which has given me a broad understanding of organisational structures, strategy, and global working environments.
This foundation, combined with my experience in CSR and inclusion, helped me see how closely diversity, equity and inclusion connect with wider HR practice.
To broaden my capability and strengthen my understanding of people management across the employee lifecycle, I enrolled on the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management with DPG.
My motivation for studying was to build a more comprehensive HR knowledge base and increase my confidence in cross-functional discussions.
Before enrolling, I recognised that my knowledge was strong in CSR and inclusion, but less developed in areas such as employee relations, talent management, workforce development and organisational performance.
I wanted to close these gaps so I could support my progression and contribute more strategically beyond my specialist area, delivering work with stronger alignment to wider HR priorities.
DPG’s flexible and remote learning model was well suited to my circumstances. It allowed me to continue working full time while studying in a structured and manageable way.
The learning platform was clear, well organised and easy to navigate. Each module was broken down into sections, which helped me engage with the content at a consistent pace.
I also found that the mix of reading materials, case studies and applied tasks was really useful, making the qualification feel practical and relevant.
Balancing study with work required effective planning. I found that shorter, regular study sessions worked best for me, along with setting clear weekly goals. The flexibility offered by DPG meant I could manage my workload without compromising the quality of my learning.
Assignment feedback has been direct, detailed and aligned with CIPD standards. This helped me improve my analytical approach and develop stronger evidence-based arguments.
The guidance available at key points in the course also gave me clarity and confidence as I progressed through each stage.
Completing the qualification has already had a clear impact on my role.
I now approach projects with a broader HR perspective and apply evidence-based practice more consistently. My understanding of organisational behaviour and people policies has improved the way I design and develop CSR and inclusion initiatives.
It has also strengthened my ability to collaborate with colleagues across the HR function and contribute to discussions that extend beyond my previous scope.
A key insight from the programme is the value of maintaining continuous professional development and reflective practice to support effective decision making.
I would recommend DPG Learn to anyone looking for a flexible, structured and well-supported learning experience, especially those balancing study with professional responsibilities.
After completing the qualification, I aim to progress further within the CSR and inclusion field, applying a broader HR lens to improve the employee experience and organisational culture.
If I were to summarise my experience with DPG in three words, they would be: flexible, structured and supportive.
