CIPD Learner Stories: David Ackery

David enjoyed his experience of studying his CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management. Read his story below.

I'm currently the HR manager for a local government. I chose to study the CIPD Level 5 Diploma as it is highly sought after by employers and demonstrated I was committed to further learning and development within my role.

I used the online learning platform which I found really easy to navigate between content and submissions. I especially found the communication tab very useful as this enabled me to communicate with my tutors.

Usually I find blended learning dull and not very interactive. However, learning with DPG was quite engaging and included real scenarios that could be used in the assignments.

I really feel the blended learning approach has been set up in such a way as to guide you through the assignments to ensure you fully understand the questions and how to answer them correctly.

The tutor support was better than what I thought it would be. Help is on hand to submit questions if you feel you need a point in the right direction and each unit has a dedicated specialist tutor.

When you submit an assignment you will get feedback on this assignment even if you might not have hit the pass mark – but it's great you get four attempts in total for each unit (including the draft).

This is fantastic as I did not worry if it might have failed as I knew I could use more attempts if required.

My qualification has helped me in my role and I have applied many different theories in my work. By completing the course, I feel I have developed my ability to write reports.
