Known as the Chartered Body for Management and Leadership in the UK, the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) has worked with individuals and businesses for over 75 years, helping people become more proficient, confident and effective in their roles as managers and leaders.
While CMI qualifications are well-known and popular within the UK, their qualifications are recognised on more than just a national level, with over 180,000 members worldwide.

As the only Chartered professional body for managers in the world, CMI qualifications are recognised and respected by employers on an international scale, with their courses setting the global benchmark for excellence in leadership.

CMI Level 6
CMI qualifications are regulated by the UK national organisation Ofqual and aligned with their Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which uses ‘Levels’ to grade how advanced a qualification is.
Each CMI qualification is set at a specific Level within the RQF, making it easy to compare to other national and international qualifications. For example, a CMI Level 6 qualification is comparable in difficulty to a university degree.

Reciprocal recognition is when organisations in two countries agree that a member of one Member Organisation is able to become a member of another Member Organisation, and it’s important when it comes to CMI qualifications because in some cases, the Chartered Management Institute holds this reciprocity agreement with certain organisations.
For example, those individuals who hold Chartered Manager Status in the UK can gain Chartered Manager status in Canada with the Canadian Institute of Management and vice versa without added requirements such as further examination, review, or additional education.
Organisations can also have their in-house training mapped and aligned against CMI’s Professional Standard in Management and Leadership, which recognises, quality checks, and endorses programmes and benchmarks them against a globally recognised Professional Standard.
