I was in a period of time after studying Psychology where I realised that maybe Psychology wasn’t quite the right fit. I was looking for a career that would enable me to utilise a lot of the skills and theories I learned, but that was more suited to what I enjoyed in a work setting.
After doing some research, I really felt that HR was where I wanted to be. However, HR is highly competitive, and I wanted to put myself in the best position I could to succeed.
So now I am currently pursuing my CIPD Associate Level Diploma in People Management through DPG. I chose online learning as this allowed me to complete my qualification around full time work.
The course has offered fantastic support, very quick responses and feedback on submissions, and regular sessions for assignment support. The biggest thing for me is the support provided for if you are finding things difficult.
The qualification has given me very strong knowledge that has been very applicable in my work. I have managed to land multiple temporary contracts in different areas of HR, so not only has my academic knowledge been expanded, but so has my exposure to HR in real life practice.
I recently secured a role as a Recruitment Resourcer with Staffline, which means I can further my knowledge around recruitment also, all thanks to my qualification, which seems to really make you stand out from other applicants.
I plan to have experience in as many aspects of the employee lifecycle and become a HR advisor within the next couple of years.
