Learner Stories: Trevor Thompson

With a few other qualifications gained over the years, Trevor was keen to enhance his professional portfolio and enrolled on the Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management to do so. Find out how he got on in his story below. 

In my role as a civil servant, I have completed numerous courses over the years in management and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at different levels. I wanted a course to compliment these, and a HR course was the natural route for personal development. 

I chose the Level 5 Diploma in People Management with the hope that this would enable me to gain a high-level qualification in a professional subject to further enhance my portfolio for promotion. I was additionally keen to gain a deeper understanding of people management process’ to not only benefit myself but my organisation.

Throughout the learning process I have developed a greater understanding of how to value employees and what the effects on the organisation could be if they are not valued and natured throughout the employee lifecycle, along with understanding individual needs. I feel this greater understanding will be of huge benefit to my organisation and has allowed me to become more aware of the people working in the organisation.

I choose distant learning due to my current full-time role and the need to work around my existing hours. I found DPG's online platform to be easy to navigate and with a clear format.
