With a background in Project Management and HR administration, and I’ve spent several years building my skills in managing people and processes. Despite doing this, I've always felt there was more I could achieve, both for my own career progression and to make my family proud.
And so, this led me to enrol in the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management with DPG.
My main motivation for pursuing this qualification was to take a significant step towards my goal of becoming an HR Director. I was working as an HR Assistant in the public sector when I started the course, and I realised that to move up the career ladder, I needed a stronger understanding of strategic HR management.
Before starting the course, I felt somewhat stuck in my career progression. I knew I had the potential to take on more senior roles, but I lacked the confidence and the in-depth knowledge required.
This was a significant achievement for me and reinforced my decision to study with DPG.
In term's of DPG's learning platform, it was the flexibility that stood out to me the most. I chose the online learning option, which allowed me to balance full-time work and family commitments while studying at my own pace.
The tutor support was excellent. The tutors were always available to provide guidance and constructive feedback on assignments. There were times when I didn’t pass assignments on the first try, but the feedback I received was invaluable in helping me improve.
Studying with DPG has had a significant impact on my career. The knowledge and skills I’ve gained have enhanced my strategic thinking and boosted my confidence to take on more challenging roles.
For example, in my new role as an HR Officer, I’ve been able to apply what I learned to introduce more effective HR practices within the organisation.
This qualification has also contributed to my personal growth. Reaching this milestone has brought me closer to my long-term goal of becoming an HR Director, and it’s been rewarding to know that my family is proud of the progress I’ve made.
One key lesson I’ve learned during my studies has definitely been the importance of perseverance. Balancing work, studies, and family life wasn’t always straightforward, but staying committed to my goals helped me overcome the challenges.
For anyone thinking about enrolling, my advice is to make the most of the resources available, they'll help you stay focused and on track. The time and effort you invest in your education will pay off, both in your career and personal development, so keep at it.
After completing my course, I plan to continue advancing in my career and potentially study my CIPD Level 7, with of course, the ultimate aim of becoming an HR Director.
Thank you, DPG, for providing me with the tools and confidence to pursue my goals. I’m looking forward to what’s next!
