CIPD Learner Stories: Uzy Adibe

Uzy Adibe enrolled on a Level 5 CIPD course with DPG to enhance her strategic understanding of HR and supplement her previous legal experience. 

My name is Uzy Adibe and I am an HR professional with a legal background. My career has allowed me to see workplace issues from both a legal and people perspective, particularly when it comes to employment matters, organisational policies and employee relations.  

Over time, this naturally developed my interest in strengthening my knowledge in Human Resources and building on my ability to support organisations and employees more effectively. 

Although my legal background provided a strong foundation in employment law, I wanted to broaden my understanding of HR practices and gain a recognised professional qualification that would complement my experience. This is what led me to enrol on the CIPD Level 5 qualification with DPG. 

Why I Chose a HR Qualification 

My main goal in studying the course was to deepen my knowledge of people management and develop a more strategic understanding of HR. I wanted to strengthen my ability to approach workplace matters not only from a legal standpoint but also from a people-focused perspective.  

HR plays such an important role in shaping workplace culture, supporting employees and helping organisations perform at their best, and I wanted to be better equipped to contribute to that.

My Main Takeaways from Taking a CIPD Course 

Studying CIPD Level 5 has already had a positive impact on my professional development. Being able to combine legal knowledge with HR expertise is incredibly valuable, and the course has helped me develop that balance even further. 

One important lesson I have taken from this experience is the importance of putting people at the heart of organisational decisions. When organisations invest in strong people practices and supportive workplace cultures, it benefits both employees and the organisation as a whole. 

My Future Plans and Recommendations
