CIPD Learner Stories: Jessica Denton

Jessica decided to enrol on the Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic People Management to enhance any future career opportunities. Find out how she gets on below.

I currently work within the Financial Services Industry as an Associate HRBP and have done this role for 2 years. Prior to this, I worked as a HR Advisor for the same company after changing careers from Employment Law.

After completing my CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management in 2019, I decided I wanted to add to this by completing the Level 7 CIPD Advanced Diploma in Strategic People Management. I wanted to further my studies mainly due to me enjoying academia, however, it would also aid with any further career advancements I wish to make.

After researching different routes and providers, I eventually decided on DPG and the blended learning route.

DPG was my chosen provider after speaking to student services who rang me when they said they would, honoured a discount for me and were overall the most responsive and human of the providers I enquired with.

The blended learning approach was perfect for me as I joined whilst 4 months pregnant which meant my course would run well into my maternity leave so the workload and time needed to be as flexible as possible.

With the blended learning this also gave me the full day face to face (virtually) workshops with the tutor to learn about the module and ask any questions I had. I am very much a self-learner, so this learning method was great for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course; the content is great, and the online materials are very helpful. Tutors are readily available if needed but equally, do not get in touch if you are fine on your own.

I would recommend DPG to anyone looking to complete a CIPD course if they are an independent learner; the work is flexible, you can go at your own pace and you are in control of your own learning.

I found all of these elements to be especially helpful as someone who has commitments at home and a busy work life.

If you're like Jessica and looking to enhance future career opportunities, enrol on a course and gain a new qualification today.
