CIPD Learner Stories: Kenneth Noon

Kenneth opted for online learning to fit his studies in and around his busy working schedule. 

I'm a Contractor in Human Resources via Recruitment Agencies and I'm currently studying CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic People Management.

DPG has been a joy to study through for the second time. I completed CIPD Level 5 in Human Resource Management in 2014 by attending venues, when I realised that Level 7 could be completed online, I had to study further.

Online learning has worked around my busy schedule at work, and  I was able to meet deadlines for the Core Units. DPG offer 3 attempts to complete Assessments and the feedback is thorough at each stage and there is support from the team at DPG.

The learning portal ‘mystudyspace’ is user-friendly and offers lots of information on each unit. There is an in-depth induction programme and assessment guides available too.

I found the course slightly challenging at first, but once I had the necessary feedback and was starting to pass assessments, I now find it less challenging, and I am enjoying learning at my own pace.

My career path has developed whilst studying Level 7 as I am now more involved in Employment Law aspects of HR, within my current role. I chose the unit ‘Advanced Employment Law in Practice’ as my optional unit, and this has given me more knowledge on Legislation which will be beneficial for my future career.

This course has also enabled me to develop as an HR Professional as I have enrolled on further courses as well as gaining more knowledge and skills at work. I now feel I am able to meet the behaviours required in regards to level 7 and the CIPD Profession Map.

My plan for the future is to develop and grow in all areas of HR and continue networking to build relationships with HR Professionals and share best practice where necessary at work.
