CIPD Learner Stories: Angela Moore

Angela was keen to gain an accredited qualification to cement her two and half decades worth of HR experience.

After completing a Certificate in Personal Practice, some 14 years ago, I decided to search the web for HR-related courses and soon identified DPG offering professional HR certificates and diplomas.

Not only was DPG competitively priced but, for me, the main reason for choosing DPG was I could learn in my own time, in the comfort of my home or office.

I was able to attend online webinars and access DPG forums, resources and my allocated tutor easily.

After some consideration, and also after finding out the fees could be spread across a number of months, I was sold!

Following 25 years in the same organisation and three successful promotions, my qualifications did not reflect the experience that I gained as an Area Service Delivery Manager. My goal and intention of completing the programme was to gain a recognised CIPD qualification to give me further support and credibility.

As a full-time working mum of an infant, this course had to fit in with my busy life, and DPG offered this.

As I had not studied for some time, I decided to push myself and study for the CIPD Level 5 Diploma in HR.

DPG were flexible and helped me with managing my time if I had busier periods at work, so I could complete my learning and assignments in good time. The online webinars encouraged group participation and they were all recorded which was particularly useful.

The CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management has given me the confidence to manage people and challenges effectively during challenging times.

In my experience, change breeds challenges. Sometimes managers can experience hostility and grievances from staff resisting such changes, and this online CIPD course explores employer and employee perceptions, expectations, behaviours and issues in-depth.

Increasing my current HR knowledge and legislation will aid me with reducing and preventing issues at work, and also help me to support and manage staff who are experiencing issues within the workplace.

The course has taught me that you're never too old to develop your knowledge and skills. For anyone looking to develop their career, DPG are an excellent springboard to enhance your knowledge skills and career. I have already recommended them to at least three colleagues!
