Recent statistics showed that there were 464 million podcast listeners across the globe and an incredible 300 million podcasts available for listeners to tune into! Not bad, right?
From being easy to access, entertaining, thought-provoking, and multi-task friendly, it’s easy to understand why so many people turn to podcasts as their main source of information.
One theme that’s blown up over the years, especially since the pandemic, is, of course, mental health and wellness, both in and outside of work.
In fact, a recent study shows that listening to podcasts about workplace mental health and wellbeing has reduced stigma, improving mental health literacy, and most importantly, increased the likelihood that someone who is struggling will reach out for help.
To this end, we thought we’d share our top 8 podcast recommendations to help manage your mental health as a professional (and simply just a person) in today’s world of work.
Having suffered with mental health disorders, anxiety and depression herself, Morra, who is an entrepreneur, author and host of one of the top 10 management podcasts, has dedicated her career to working with executives and leaders across multiple industries. Morra helps professionals transform their anxieties into superpowers and then teaches them how to use these superpowers to their advantage.
Morra was quick to realise that when it came to the professional world, there was a distinct lack of effective role models talking about their mental health, perpetuating stigmas that poor mental health is a weakness.
She wanted to turn what was deemed as a “weakness” into a strength and centred her podcast around what it is to be a leader who battles with anxiety, focusing on how one’s mindset and feelings can enhance creatively, emotional intelligence and vision.
Each episode features a different leader who then speaks openly with Morra about their own mental health, including topics like childhood trauma, mental health disorders and psychological safety. The common dominator being how they lead successful careers while overcoming and dealing with these issues.
