CIPD Level 5 HRM Diploma - Record Breaker! Completed in just 139 days!

I wanted to gain the credibility that being CIPD qualified brings as I knew it would help my future job search. I’ve spent the last 12 years in operational management in the radio industry. Part of my role has been dealing with HR matters and increasingly my role focused more and more on HR. It was part of my job I enjoyed so it seemed a natural step when I decided it was time to take the leap into the profession properly.
I researched a few companies and the extra ILM qualification that comes with this one was the deciding factor. A friend had a contact at DPG who I spoke with and it just seemed the obvious choice. I tried a demo of an e-lesson and thought it would work for me.
I suspected my current job would be coming to an end in 2019 and I knew that in an ideal world being CIPD qualified would help me secure a new job. My motivation to work really hard to get the programme completed drove me on. I was in a fortunate position to be able to spend a few hours every day studying. I didn’t plan to break the record but I’m very happy I have.
The programme was great. The e-lessons were interactive which made learning easy and the assessments put HR in the real world which has been a really useful way to think about the subjects.
My goal was to complete the course by Easter 2019 with the aim of securing my first job in HR this year.
For the most part I didn’t need too much help, but when I asked I always got a response from a facilitator or assessor quickly. Knowing that the support was there if I needed it was reassuring. As I approached the end of the programme, the facilitators and assessors really stepped up to get my assessments marked in time. That really helped!
I’m paying for it monthly over 12 months which has been really straightforward.
Go for it. It’s an investment but one that pay itself back many times over. DPG are a great bunch to work with and I’ll certainly be back when I’m looking at the next step for my career.
Be motivated, work hard and most of all, enjoy the process. Plan your time and stick to it. Allow some contingency in your plan for when life takes over and be realistic. I was in a fortunate position to be able to do this quickly which won’t be possible for everyone but keeping focussed is key.
